10 June 2023, 10:15 CEST

This side event at UNFCCC SB58 will promote an intergenerational approach to creating a climate-resilient world and will bring together stakeholders to discuss the importance of long-term thinking in global adaptation.

Event description

In today’s world, climate change is more pressing than ever. The effects of climate change are already being felt around the world, and it is crucial that we act now to build resilience and reduce vulnerability. By bringing together young people, policymakers, and other stakeholders, the event will emphasize the need to engage and empower youth in the development and implementation of adaptation policies.

Key objectives

  • Promote the perspectives of young people in international adaptation processes including the Global Goal on Adaptation to advance inclusive and equitable adaptation decision-making and action.
  • Promote youth participation in national policy- and decision-making processes, including in National Adaptation Plans.
  • Catalyze innovative ideas and adaptation action in young people, presenting best practices by featuring African youth leadership around the world including the African YouthADAPT winners

This event is co-organized by Nationale Jeugdraad, Peace Boat Disaster Relief Volunteer Center, Plant for the Planet Foundation, Youth Climate Movement Netherlands, Negotation Hub and the Global Center on Adaptation (GCA)
