The Multi-Stakeholder Engagement on the Kenyan National Roadmap for Infrastructure Adaptation Investments brings together diverse national stakeholders to engage in comprehensive discussions regarding the flagship project being carried out by the University of Nairobi: Enhancing and Scaling Up Climate Adaptation for Resilient Infrastructure in Kenya and the East African Region.

Event description

The University of Nairobi (UoN) and the Global Center on Adaptation (GCA) areorganizing an in-person multi-stakeholder engagement event as part of the project “Enhancing and Scaling Up Climate Adaptation for Resilient Infrastructure in Kenya and the East African Region”. Through a risk and resilience assessment, the project aims to produce an investment roadmap that will guide the development of climate resilient infrastructure systems in Kenya, identifying adaptation interventions across four key sectors: transport, energy, water and ICT. It is being implemented as part of the African Adaptation Acceleration Program, a joint initiative from GCA, the African Union and the African Development Bank, to increase access to climate finance and mainstream climate adaptation in investment projects.

The engagement event brings together more than 50 participants from national institutions to discuss and validate project findings, including national climate hazard and impact assessments, and to foster cross-sectoral sharing of knowledge, experiences and perspectives to identify effective adaption options and their prioritisation in planning, delivery and management of infrastructure projects. Outcomes of this event will be used to finalise research for the project.
