The Multi-Stakeholder Dialogue on Climate Risks in the Port Investments brings together diverse national stakeholders to engage in comprehensive discussions regarding climate risks associated with the African Development Bank’s Comoros Maritime Corridor Development and Regional Trade Facilitation Project.

The Global Center on Adaptation (GCA) is organizing an in-person multi-stakeholder dialogue as part of the technical assistance to support the African Development Bank Comoros Maritime Corridor Development and Regional Trade Facilitation Project. This dialogue event aims to facilitate comprehensive discussions on Climate Hazards results and engage stakeholders in exploring the next steps for identifying adaptation measures to address these challenges effectively.
 
The technical assistance is implemented as part of the African Adaptation Acceleration Program, a joint initiative from GCA, the African Union and the African Development Bank, to increase access to climate finance and mainstream climate adaptation in investment projects. The consortium of Pegasys Ltd and Hatch Ltd is implementing this GCA-led initiative.
 
The stakeholder dialogue is the first of two to three planned dialogues to support the port investment project in Comoros. The primary objectives of the first dialogue are to discuss the findings of the climate hazard assessment, highlighting the potential risks on the ports on the islands of Grand Comore, Mohéli and Anjouan, with a disruptive impact on socioeconomics and the environment. The dialogue will also foster discussions among participants, including policymakers, technical experts, and practitioners, to share knowledge, experiences, and perspectives to identify effective strategies and measures for adaptation to protect the port project from impending climate hazards.
